Hunters Shoot Into The Win Column

The Blackhawks finally managed to chalk up a win of the season, but it wasn’t all smooth sailing.

A woefully lethargic first half left them trailing 28 – 22. A score which reflected the lack of urgency and dynamism the half was played with.

However, things turned around in the second. The energy levels went up and that was complimented by some fine shooting from Sam Piercey (4 three pointers in the game). At the end of the 3rd quarter James WIldsmith also nailed a couple of long rangers, with Captain Nutts hitting one in between.

Having trailed by 8 at one point, the Blackhawks did well to win 62 – 50.

Player reports

·         James Wildsmith – 25 points (22 in the second half) – Pretty poor in the first, but ran the lanes and pushed the ball excellently in the second. Was a big factor in the win! Also scored a couple of long rangers

·         Sam Piercey – 12 points – 4 long rangers and 5 fouls. Like a shooting star! His 3 point shooting helped to lift the energy of the team at an important time

·         Ben Woods – 8points – Made some excellent cuts and work hard. Not at his best finishing off his plays but contributed well and scored the ball at times when no one else was hitting anything. Also played some EXCELLENT help defence!

·         Dave Nuttall – 7points – A previous calf injury came back to haunt him, meaning he was only at half speed. But managed to chip in with a few points and tried his best to increase the energy of the team in the second.

·         Phil Telling – 4 points – Chipped in with a couple of nice baskets, including an offensive rebound and put back off a missed free throw. His experience helped on the defensive end especially

·         Sputnick – 2points – His usual energetic self. Rebounds and put backs. But not at his best offensively

·         Rick Lansdell – 2 points – Again, not his best offensive day, but made a good defensive contribution and crashed the boards hard

·         Samir – 2 points – Didn’t score as many as he is often capable of, but worked hard for the team

·         Dave Fellows – didn’t score but worked his arse off while he was on! He provided some much needed energy when it was seriously lacking

·         Olivier Gueuret – Another player who didn’t score. But played some really good defence and ran the lanes well.
